The Twelve Apostles Hotel And Spa Hosts Acclaimed Anglo Zulu War Raconteur Rob Caskie For 1 Night Only
September 2010- Red Carnation Hotels five-star hotel in Cape Town, The Twelve Apostles Hotel and Spa, is proud to host, for the second year, acclaimed Anglo Zulu War raconteur Rob Caskie on 21 October 2010 who will give a presentation on ‘The Defence of Rorke's Drift'. The presentation is from 18.30 - 19.30, thereafter guests can enjoy an extensive selection of canapés created by the Executive Head Chef accompanied by select wines from our Sommeliers selection - ticket price is R195.00 per person.

Rob Caskie is the internationally acclaimed principal raconteur at Fugitive's Drift, the home of late historian David Rattray and will captivate you with some factual and evocative storytelling, bringing to life the battle of Isandlwana and Rorke's Drift. Rob recently did a presentation for The Anglo Zulu War Historical Society and in September he can be seen at the Royal Geographical Society in London.

‘The Defence of Rorke's Drift' in KwaZulu-Natal on 22 January 1879 was the second encounter in the Anglo-Zulu War. It saw the award of 11 Victoria Crosses and 5 Distinguished Conduct Medals. 139 British soldiers, 35 of whom were sick in the hospital, held out against 4,000 Zulu warriors. It is an epic of human struggle and a triumph of the human spirit. Having understudied David Rattray, his mentor and great friend, for six years, Rob will share epic tales of extraordinary heroism and bravery - from both sides of the battle lines.

Those wishing to spend the night and enjoy dinner in the ever popular Azure Restaurant can do so from R1713.00 per person sharing, per night on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis.
