Describe a typical day.
My activities are varied and range from receiving new briefs to final creative output, with everything in between. Part analytical and part creative. I formulate, originate, create and consummate. The highlight for me is seeing a brilliantly executed and successful campaign being put in place.
What character traits should a person possess to be successful in your position?
Imagination, creative flair and a keen eye for detail are all important. Vigilance and the ability to recognise good ideas, the ability to work well under pressure, patience, understanding and integrity which aids along the way. It's generally the soft or innate skills (that cannot always be taught) that are most important in most creative fields. Overall, it's the passion for the creative process that will get you there.
Where to from here?
Digital mediums are complex and forever changing. Who knows?
What makes you tick?
I am an avid reader of books of all genres. This, I believe, stimulates, educates and hones my faculties. I enjoy music, the earth sciences and all things peculiar. My weekends, when not at the office, are spent blasting along twisty secondary roads on one of four motorcycles. And gardening - which I find most relaxing.
