1 September 2009: This year we're making Jack Daniel's history by getting people all over the world to sign a birthday card for our founder, Jack Daniel. It's the first time Jack has had an official Facebook presence, and the first time anyone has given fans all over the world a chance to be part of his official portrait, which will be created from their signatures. He may not have been around for quite a few years now, but it's fair to say that his spirit lives on! This year we are proud to invite you to become part of the Jack Daniel's Birthday Facebook page, where you can join the discussion, become a fan and sign his birthday card.
We know that over the years Jack has made friends all around the world and this year we wanted to unite them by inviting them to sign his virtual birthday card on Facebook. In addition, throughout September, participating bars and retailers will be offering people the chance to take part in a range of promotions and win some fantastic prizes.
Visit: http://apps.facebook.com/signjackscard/ to sign Jack's card. If Twitter is more your style, then Tweet a toast to Jack by adding #ToastJack. You can view all of Jack's Tweets at ToastJack.com.
You may be wondering why we celebrate throughout September. The truth is that nobody really knows the exact date Jack was born. Some say he never had a birth certificate, others that it was lost in a fire at the local courthouse.
The one thing everyone agrees on, however, is that Jack was born sometime in September 1850, which gives us the whole month to choose when to celebrate. As we see it, there's no more fitting tribute for our colourful founder and his fine whiskey.
Only people of legal drinking age will be allowed to participate in this promotion.
