TBWA\Group\Durban's D\M\Y Connections PR & Events has helped client, Ambi Pur Home Fragrance (part of the Sara Lee group), to take top honours at this year's Decorex Johannesburg, winning "Best Stand" for the Ambi Pur Loft that was originally part of an Ambi Pur-sponsored house at Durban's Decorators on Display. Decorex Johannesburg was held in August, while Durban Decorators on Display took place at Mount Edgecombe, in May this year. Debbie-Lee Kelly, D\M\Y Connections PR Director, comments, "Winning Best Stand out of five huge halls at Gallagher Estate, at the most prestigious exhibition in the country, is a great affirmation of a job well done. It is particularly exciting for us because this was the first time that Decorators on Display had allowed a commercial sponsorship of a house, and it was also the first time that our client, Ambi Pur, had done anything like this. Decorex was the first activation to which the loft stand has travelled, so winning this award in our first activation outside of Decorators on Display bodes extremely well for Ambi Pur using the stand going forward."
D\M\Y Connections worked with M&M Space Designs to create beautiful interiors for the home at the Kindlewood Estate in Mount Edgecombe, Durban, using Ambi Pur's home fragrances as the inspiration. The Aqua fragrance inspired M&M Space Designs to create a fresh and funky look for the loft, using whites, blues and greens. The house's loft, a self-contained space consisting of a lounge, bedroom and bathroom, was re-assembled onto a stand at Decorex, the first of many exhibitions to which it is destined to travel - it will be used by Ambi Pur throughout the year for other exhibitions and activations. At Decorex, D\M\Y Connections reassembled the stand, staffed it with promoters and stocked it with product samples. Plasma screens showing the rest of the house's rooms meant that visitors to the Decorex stand were privy to M&M Space Designs' clever use of the Ambi Pur home fragrance as decor inspiration, in its entirety.
