Juicy Lucy Sponsors Mountain Bike Race
Quick service food franchise Juicy Lucy will continue sponsoring the Mid-Illovo Mountain Bike Challenge for years to come after an extremely successful first event, director Craig MacKenzie confirmed this week.

MacKenzie said the event far exceeded expectations thanks to the professional organisation and management of the race and he has already received positive feedback from many of the 820 riders that took to the hills last month.

Sponsoring such an event was perfect timing for Juicy Lucy as mountain biking is one of South Africa's fastest growing sports. It is also a perfect fit as the Juicy Lucy brand epitomises a healthier and wholesome lifestyle.

The 40km and 18km courses took riders through the picturesque Gwahumbe Reserve Game & Spa allowing them to get even closer to the abundant wildlife.

The Juicy Lucy Mid-Illovo Mountain Bike Challenge was tailor-made for all members of the family, with mainstream events for experienced riders, as well as a kids' fun ride and even a toddlers' race. The 10 development riders that took part in both the 18km and 40km routes faired well and enjoyed the spirit of the day.

Andrew Warr won the 40km Juicy Lucy Classic, whilst multi-sport athlete Jeannie Bomford took top honours in the ladies' 40km race.

Juicy Lucy presented the first 200 entrants in the 18km and 40km races with moisture management shirts and cycling medals, whilst the first 500 entrants took home a goodie bag.
