Exciting New Ventures
As a long standing proponent of the role of marketing within business and our economy, I am thrilled to tell you about my latest business venture. I have joined up with the influential IMM Graduate School of Marketing to launch a series of brands that will benefit the profession and add to the status of marketing as a career.

Firstly, we are filling a glaring gap in the market for an unbiased, relevant and cutting-edge magazine catering to senior and influential stakeholders in the field of marketing - Strategic Marketing magazine. Our first issue will be distributed in July to 14 000 marketing practitioners.

There are obvious synergies with our existing and respected brand, marketingweb.co.za. We have carefully developed this online site and currently boast a user base of over 30 000 a month.

Strategic Marketing magazine will be followed in November by the most prestigious marketing congress ever seen in South Africa, an annual event that will bring together local and international marketeers.

Plus we plan to tackle marketing issues in a series of one day seminars over the next 12 months.

We are also in the midst of publishing a book entitled Sponsorship South Africa - an Investors Guide. Dedicated to the fastest growing and most talked about tool in the marketers arsenal. Richard Steyn is editing contributions from leading financial, legal and marketing gurus, including Mervyn King who is set to include sponsorship in King 3.

I am also in the throes of tying up a radio programme called Marketing and Media Matters.

As you can imagine these ventures have been in research and development for some time and I have managed to gain positive support from organisations such as the Services SETA, Chartered Marketer Council, Marketing Excellence Awards Council and of course my business partner the IMM GSM.
