Lew Geffen Sotheby’s International Realty scoops top International Property Award
Lew Geffen Sotheby's International Realty has won the award for "Best Estate Agency" in South Africa in the prestigious International Property Awards for 2007, sponsored by CNBC. The company received a 5 star award (scoring above 75% of the total score), and beat rivals Pam Golding and the Tinus Strydom Property Group, both of whom received 4 star awards (above 60% of the total score), into second and third place respectively for this category.

Lew Geffen Sotheby's International Realty received a further two awards in the competition. These were for "Best Real Estate Agency Marketing" and "Best Real Estate Agency Website" (both 4 star awards). With a total of three awards, Lew Geffen Sotheby's International Realty received more awards than any other South African property company.

Commenting on the award, Executive Director of Sotheby's International Realty South Africa, Lew Geffen, says: "We are delighted to receive this award. While certain of our competitors lay claim to the honours, the simple truth is that Lew Geffen Sotheby's International Realty has been acknowledged as the best real estate agency in South Africa. This achievement is testimony to the hard work and dedication of our franchisees and property consultants throughout the country."

Geffen noted that this was the first time that Sotheby's International Realty South Africa had entered the competition. "In less than 5 years, the company has grown from some 5 offices in Johannesburg to 75 offices countrywide, with a corresponding increase in turnover and the number of agents under our employ. Having had to play ‘catch up' with some of the bigger players in the market, it is gratifying to know that we have now emerged as the top agency in the country," he said.

The International Property Awards - regarded as the ‘Oscars" of the global property industry - recognises achievement in property across 20 different categories. Professionals from more than 38 countries entered the awards in 2007, which were presided over by a panel of eminent judges under the chairmanship of British MP, Eric Pickles. The gala presentation dinner took place at London's Marriott Hotel in Grosvenor Square on 14 September 2007.
