Describe a typical day
A typical day for me is coming into work and receiving a new brief, then sitting down with my partner and brainstorming the best way of interpreting the brief. Normally 3-5 great ideas come out of one of these sessions. Once that's done (in most cases) the top two are chosen to be presented to client. Once its approved, it's all about bringing it to life.
What character traits should a person possess to be successful in your position?
You constantly need to be coming up with fresh new ideas and fresh new ways of executing your ideas. You need to be brave - brave enough to dust yourself off and keep going when what you think is a really great idea has been shot down and brave enough to fight for your idea when you really believe that it has legs.
What makes you tick?
Great ideas make me tick.
What one thing would you like to do before you die?
Bungee jump and skydive.
What is the best lesson you have learnt that has stood you in good stead?
Always step away from your ideas and then come back to them a little later. If you still have that same tingly feeling you originally had when you started off, then it's a really good idea.
When you were six, ten and sixteen, what were your dream jobs?
At six I wanted to be rich. At ten I wanted to be a musician (played trumpet for ten years and eventually became a musician). At sixteen I was in detention and saw a AAA poster in our detention room that spoke about the wonders of advertising. Needless to say, I wanted to be a copywriter.
I cannot live without?
I cannot live without music and comic relief.
