Getting To Know You - Abbi Bridge - Media Strategist - Notabene CT
Describe a typical day
A typical day in the crazy world that is advertising usually involves trying to collaborate the joint forces of the creative agency, the media agency, the client and - let's not forget the media owners - to ensure that advertising campaigns are rolled out smoothly and with a bit of a bang.
The aspect of my job that I enjoy the most is working together with the creative talent in South Africa that leads to incredible advertising campaigns. When I hear my clients' ads on the radio, see them in magazines and newspapers, on TV or on big billboards around the city I feel a huge sense of pride in knowing that I was a part of that campaign.
Highlight of the day - usually when media owners come round to the office and spoil us with little treats ranging from ipods to ice cream. Today we are being spoilt to a lunch of a Gatsby's roll -"the Great Gatsby" (a huge roll filled with salad and slap chips).

What character traits should a person possess to be successful in your position?
The key character traits for someone in the media industry are: confidence, a proactive understanding of your own true worth, integrity and willingness to put a lot of hard work into your campaigns.

What drives you?
What drives me everyday is a sincere desire to see successful advertising campaigns roll out, from beginning to end, for my clients.

What one thing would you like to do before you die?
Travel to as many places in the world that I possibly can.

What do you do in your spare time to blow off steam or relax?
I have just moved to Cape Town and am exploring the dual personality of the city. This involves exploring the mountains and enjoying time in nature, hiking, swimming, running etc. And on the other hand, taking time to enjoy the finer things of life by trying out new restaurants, wine tasting, going to the theatre, and generally exploring the city's night life.

When you were six, ten and sixteen, what were your dream jobs?

Six: jet fighter pilot (basically Tom Cruise in Top Gun), Ten: professional ice-cream taster, Sixteen: famous artist
