Job Description

A large, collaborative international agency is looking for a highly conceptual Art Director with beauty experience to join their growing team.

Responsibilities

As Art Director, you will work on a variety of different projects from brief to production ranging from campaign design, digital and social advertising, brand development, key visual mock-ups and a range of responsive web projects. You are a design problem solver, able to suggest alternative approaches where needed. You will come up with innovative solutions, push platform boundaries and break stereotypes while collaborating with a brilliant team of beauty experts, copywriters, social media managers and cultural strategists.

  • Work collaboratively under a Creative Director and or Head of Design and with a team of art directors and copywriters to solve design and marketing content problems
  • Occasionally oversee the work of designers or other art directors
  • Lead conceptual projects where you work with a team on strategic and visual territories
  • Be a passionate and inspiring creative for the team and clients, sharing inspiration
  • Deep affinity with layout, typography, idea-generation and product beautification
  • Take ownership of projects from concept through to completion
  • Develop a deep understanding of target audiences and the client’s marketing strategy to deliver high-quality results that have an instant, positive impact on the consumer, promoting products and brands. Pitch creative solutions in response to marketing strategies
  • Practice strong conceptual design thinking for digital and social design projects
  • Define the look and feel for a variety of design projects, implementing existing brand guidelines when required
  • A close working relationship with clients has been developed and you must be comfortable with presenting and taking client feedback directly

 

Requirements

  • Traditional and digital experience (great social and digital knowledge essential)
  • Luxury, premium, beauty or fashion experience (can also include premium alcohol or luxury auto experience)
  • A portfolio demonstrating your ideas through concept to execution including social media campaigns that were effective, beautiful and entertaining
  • A passion for digital trends and interaction design
  • High proficiency in Adobe CC suite applications including Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketch and associated prototyping drawing ability is required
  • Film/video editing experience of short content for social assets, GIFs and motion
  • Experience as a photographer would be a very welcome nice-to-have
  • Team player with a client-centric focus and the ability to build strong and effective working relationships                                              
  • To provide leadership and expertise to the onsite creative team
  • Work with Creative Services Manager to help decide on the best resource for a brief
  • Brand guardianship on key accounts
  • Presenting your work internally and to clients and managing workloads within agreed time constraints
  • Proactive and solutions-focused – this is a must!

  • Experience art directing projects and shoots within the Beauty and Personal care category and/or luxury brands
  • Deep affinity with layout, typography and idea-generation
  • Ability to take ownership of projects from concept through to completion

  • Ability to pitch creative solutions in response to marketing strategies
  • Excellent experience working closely with clients during kick-off
  • Strong conceptual design thinking for digital and social design projects
  • Proven track record defining the look and feel for a variety of design projects, implementing existing brand guidelines when required
  • Ability to work under the direction of the Senior Creative Director and using your own initiative


OTHER ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
As the position is remote, it is essential that the ideal candidate have the following in place to ensure there are no delays on delivering work timeously:

  • Back-up power supply, if necessary
  • Stable internet connectivity – fibre connection preferable (options can be discussed) in order to connect to remote servers as well as conduct virtual meetings daily
